The minimum temperature for applying VS721 is above freezing, but temperature below 50 deg. F is impractical because it will take a very long time for it to start curing and haze up, You need to remove the haze before it cures, otherwise, it will be very difficult to remove the haze. If it doesn’t start to haze up, it will never cure and will come off.
The best temperature for applying VS721 is 70 Deg. F, give or take 15 Deg. The warmer it is, the faster it will start to haze up and cure, the cooler it is the longer it will take. Curing is a chemical reaction, so the temperature is not critical for the performance of the bottom coat, but it affects the application. The ideal time to remove the haze, at 70 Deg., Is within 5 to 15 minutes. After that, it becomes more difficult to remove as the curing starts to advance.
If the surface is warm or hot to the touch, it’s better to apply VS721 in the shade, if it’s cooler, it’s less important as the temperature will slow the curing and hazing process.
In the event that you leave it too long and the haze is difficult to buff off, you can reapply some VS721 to loosen it up and then buff it to a slippery shiny surface.
