Cleaning Power Cords

  Skipper

Pat Finlay asked:

I’m looking for a product for cleaning power cords. Mine is very dirty and sticky. The cleaners I’ve tried are hard to work with and don’t work very well. Do you have a good cleaner or do I have to replace my power cord. I would like to do this over the winter, while my boat is in storage. I love your other products. They are the best.

Answer:
For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

Boat Scrub will clean your power cord. If it’s really bad or you want to make the job a little easier and faster, use a combination of Boat Clean Plus and Boat Scrub. Use an aggressive cloth like terry towel or a piece of carpet. Wet it with water or Boat Clean Plus until it is damp. Apply a bit of Boat Scrub and rub away the dirt. An easier way is to wrap the cloth around the cord and draw it through. Get a friend to help or tie one end of the cord to something stationary,

When the cord is clean, wipe it well with another cloth and clear water. When it is dry, apply 2 coats of Vinyl Guard on the cord and it should look brand new again.

You can also clean your fenders using the same process and products. Good winter projects!

Thanks for your question,

Captain Aurora
