Cleaning the Toons

  Skipper

Cheryl Grote asked:

I just bought a new pontoon and want to keep the toons looking new. Many of the boats around me have algae and “junk” build-up. Will these products work on aluminum pontoons? If so, what should I use?

Answer:
For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

If you have any algae and junk build up, use Algex to safely clean the toons. Use Alumabrite CBX if the bottom is badly stained and dirty. If it just needs cleaning, you can use Boat Clean Plus to wash them or Boat Scrub to clean and brighten them. Boat Scrub can be used to polish aluminum to a mirror finish, but it is a bit of work Alumabrite CBX is much easier. VS721 Bottom Coatworks well on the bottom to keep it clean and make clean up at the end of the season much easier. It will also improve the performance, speed and fuel economy of your boat.

For the painted surfaces, you can use Black Streak Remover to quickly remove the ugly streaks and protect it with Premium Boat Shine, or Kwik Shine. Premium Boat Shine will last all season, Kwik Shine cleans as well as shines and protects. Boat Clean Plus is excellent for cleaning the vinyl seats and shampooing the carpet. It can get some pretty nasty stains out and is completely safe and biodegradable. Use Vinyl Guard on your vinyl seats fro protection against UV, suntan oil, staining from bird poop, food spills etc.

Thanks for your Question.
