How to protect aluminum car chassis.
Stuart Boffey asked:
Do you think Alumetron would be suitable for use to protect an anodized aluminum car chassis?
While the chassis is anodized, over the years some surface corrosion has occurred and has left some surface pitting. To stop it getting any worse we wondered if Alumetron would help protect it?
It would be exposed to rain and spray off the road.
Also do you know how Alumetron copes with heat as one of the areas we’d like to protect is the engine bay but this area obviously gets hot.
Any thoughts?

Alumetron will protect your anodized aluminum car chassis. It has been successfully tested to protect the aluminum rails on highway trailers in northern Canada where the roads are subject to road salt during the winter months and it is also commonly used on anodized aluminum sailboat masts and fishing towers that are subjected to corrosive salt air. Alumetron is proven to prevent corrosion and pitting even in these harsh environments. It bonds chemically to the aluminum for superior protection and can last up to 10 years.
It is imperative to get the metal clean and pollutant free prior to applying the Alumetron. Alumetron will not remove the corrosive pits and the pits may continue to corrode under the Alumetron unless they are cleaned and passivated. You can use Alumabrite CBX to clean and passivate the pits.
Alumetron is not recommended for application on metal that may be heated above 60 deg. C.
