How to Remove Diesel Stains from my Avon Hypalon RIB?

  Skipper

Jim Burkott asked:

I’ve tried all kinds of cleaners on my Avon Hypalon RIB to clean up ingrained stains from diesel exhaust.
Can you tell me if your Speed Clean product will work on the stains pictured in the attached photo? The only product that I’ve had any progress (limited) with is Mr. Clean Magic Erasures.

Answer:

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

To remove diesel stains on your Inflatable Boat, Speed Clean should work for you, providing that the surface of the fabric has not been damaged in any way. It is recommended by Avon.

Do not use other cleaners that are not recommended for inflatable boats as you can damage the material. Mr. Clean magic Erasures are abrasive.

After you clean the tube, use Poly Guard to protect it and make it easier to keep clean. You can also use Speed Clean on the fiberglass hull and protect the non skid surface with Sure Step and the bottom with Repelin. These products will seal the pores in the gel-coat making them less tangible to soiling and much easier to keep clean.

Thanks for your question,
