What is the Prep for Kwik Shine?

  Skipper

Question:

Jim B asked:
Is there any stripping of existing wax or other preparations needed, beyond normal washing, before applying Kwik Shine for the first time?

Answer:

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

Kwik Shine has good cleaning as well as polishing and protecting properties. Unless the boat is muddy or extremely dirty you should be able to go straight to Kwik Shine or perhaps rinse off any grit if that’s on your boat. Kwik Shine will remove any oxidized old wax and stripping should not be necessary unless you have a very heavy, thick layer of wax.

I suggest that you try a small section, even without washing. If you’re happy with the results, you’re good to go.

Thanks for your question,
