Will Your Cleaners Hurt My Ashphalt Driveway?

  Skipper

John Picariello asked:

I am ready to use your Boat Clean Plus and Boat Scrub on my fiberglass C-Dory. Will either of these products harm my asphalt driveway, which is the only flat level area that I can work?

Answer:
For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

Boat Clean Plus and Boat Scrub will not harm your driveway. Both products are biodegradable so the residue that is rinsed off your boat will not harm the environment.

Please work safely and responsibly. Most driveways drain to gutters on the roadway, which drain to storm sewers, which drain directly into streams, rivers, lakes or the ocean. Whenever washing or cleaning anything on your driveway it’s always best to minimize the effluent that is rinsed away and if possible contain as much as possible in wiping cloths that can be disposed of on land.

Aurora bottom cleaners, such as Waterline Stain Remover, Algae Strip, Algex and Inflatable Bottom Spray can damage asphalt or concrete driveways since they have an acidic base. Bottom cleaning should be done on a graveled or earthen surface. These products are also biodegradable and will be consumed and break down rapidly when put in contact with marine growth or water. If you are removing heavy growth or hard growth like barnacles or Zebra mussels, it’s best to place a drop cloth under your boat to make clean up easier when you are finished.

Thanks for you question,
Captain Aurora
